In the department of public affairs and police administration, students will cultivate the spirit of mercy, the spirit of creativity and challenge, and global job competence to cope with the era of globalization and localization. Objectives of Education
The educational goals of the department are:
? To teach theories and practical techniques for the management of organization, personnel matters, budget, and planning
? To have the ability to implement police administration
? To establish values ,with knowledge for understanding the present and the future
? To cultivate planning, managing, and problem solving skills

? To encourage a sense of duty as public officers
The department has three different courses:
? Administration: Students will learn effective theories on the management of public organization, practical techniques, and leadership.
? Police administration: Students will have professional knowledge of public order and refinement as democratic citizens
? Public: Students will acquire the ability to understand diplomatic problems of idiographic and national dimension.
In the administration course, the department puts emphasis on fostering specialists who actively participate in administrative institutions, public corporations, and civic groups, and public officers who serve in various public offices. We also help them win professional certificates.
In the police administration course, we cultivate talents who have knowledge of public order and refinement as citizens in democratic society, and specialists who have professional knowledge and on-the-job ability in effective management of organization and the rational policy decision making skills.
In the public course, we teach students how to come up with an effective counterplan by understanding the concept of politics and diplomacy, how to establish strategies, and how to deal with various situations.

Department of Social Welfare
With professors and outstanding graduates, students in the department are able to design your future plan for making a better society.
The department was established in 1989 to produce social workers. When students complete required social work courses, they get second rate certificates for social work and qualify for applying to a government examination to get the first rate certificate.
Currently social workers play key roles in a lot of parts: welfare centers for adolescents, families, handicapped, females, senior citizens, and multicultural families; local social welfare centers, mental health-care centers; hospitals; volunteer centers.
Graduates also work as public officers in the social welfare division. Students are able to have many chances to work various fields depending on their attention and effort.
Objectives of Education
Social welfare is a study for solving and preventing problems between humans and their environment. The aims of education are:
? To teach introductory theory of social science, and social welfare policy and action research methodology
? To raise social workers who cherish the ideals of self-reliance, equality, and solidarity
? To practice compassion. Students completing this course will have a sense of balance and creative ways of thinking in solving problems related to welfare, and enlarge their research areas to new trends in social welfare studies. They will be proactive specialists who have hands-on ability and sound sense of judgment on impending problems.
Social welfare studies are an applied field of theory and practice. The department teaches three main categories in studying social welfare:
? Hands-on theories and skills based on existing theories
? Design and evaluation of welfare programs
? Management of cases. As the current trend of segment of professionalism continues, the department trains students to provide domiciliary care services.
Therefore, the department provides chances to practice and exercise their hands-on theories in this field.
On completing the required courses, students will achieve the 2nd rate social worker certificate and quality to apply for the 1st rate certificate. Graduates get employment in private or public social welfare organs and government offices. They also demonstrate their ability in hospitals, businesses, schools, and religious groups.
Students are also able to apply for various types of examinations such as employment examinations, civil service examinations, and public corporation examinations. Recently, Korean society demands specialized certifications in this field and government policy maintains a welfare state, therefore social workers have more opportunities to contribute their talents to the society.
