Q.  Why did you choose Dongguk University WISE Campus, and what were your first impressions?

Jaymee Our home university selected Dongguk University WISE Campus for us, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Studying abroad has always been my dream, and Korea was at the top of my list. When I arrived, the campus was even more beautiful than I imagined, and everyone—from professors to staff—was so welcoming.

Elhiza Dongguk University is known as one of the most prestigious universities in Korea, and I immediately noticed how the education here focuses on real-world experiences. I truly appreciate that approach.

Irish Even though we didn’t personally choose the university, I feel incredibly lucky. The warm welcome from professors, staff, and students made us feel at home right away.

Jazlene I wanted a place that would help me grow academically while experiencing Korean culture. Dongguk WISE Campus gave me both. The professors are approachable and always ready to help.

Q.  You participated in the 2025 International Smile Fiesta and won the Silver Smile Award. What was that experience like?

Jaymee Joining the International Smile Fiesta was more than a performance—it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Representing the Philippines on an international stage felt like a dream come true. The support from our professors, especially Professor JJ and our Appa Seonsaengnim Mr. Yoon, made the experience unforgettable.

Elhiza It was such a proud moment to represent both my university and my country. I’ll treasure it forever. Professor JJ introduced the opportunity, and Mr. Yoon guided us every step of the way—his support gave us so much confidence.

Irish Standing on stage in traditional attire, hearing the cheers from the audience—it was an unforgettable moment. Winning the Silver Smile Award was beyond our expectations. I’ll never forget the support from our professors and especially our Appa, Mr. Yoon, who cheered for us like family.

Jazlene I joined because I wanted to show what Filipinos are capable of. We practiced tirelessly in the dormitory basement, and seeing it all come together on stage was amazing.

Rose The Smile Fiesta made me realize how proud I am to be Filipino. Performing our traditional dance and receiving the Silver Smile Award felt surreal. The constant encouragement from our professors and Appa made Korea feel like home.

Jaymee The Korean Buddy Program and the guidance of Mr. Yoon have been life-changing. Our buddies made daily life easier and helped us feel connected, while Mr. Yoon ensured every moment was meaningful.

Elhiza The guidance from our AIMS coordinator, Mr. Yoon Sangsik, meant a lot. He made sure we were supported and comfortable from day one.

Irish The Buddy Program was a huge help. Our buddies taught us basic Korean, recommended local food, and helped us explore Gyeongju. They made us feel less like foreigners and more like family.

Jazlene My buddy, Kevin, introduced me to Korean culture and attractions around Gyeongju. And of course, Mr. Yoon has been with us since the visa application process—his dedication is truly inspiring.

Rose Our buddies went above and beyond to make us feel at home, helping us with everything from grocery shopping to cultural activities. Because of them, Korea started to feel like a second home.
