Win-win cooperation between local government, industry, academia, and research institutes:
Creation of residential jobs from nurturing excellent talent in local strategic industries to employment.
On the 11th, Dongguk University WISE signed the “Dongguk University WISE Campus Glocal Partnership” agreement at the Global ACE Hall on the 4th floor of Wonhyo Hall on campus for win-win cooperation between local government, industry, academia, and research institutes.
Attending the agreement ceremony on this day were Dongguk University WISE President Ryu Wanha, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, Gyeongju City Council Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop, Gyeongju Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Lee Sang-geol, and 50 companies that signed the Glocal Partnership agreement.
With this Glocal Partnership Agreement, Dongguk University WISE will leap forward as a local independent glocal university by creating residential jobs to expand the inflow of young people into the region and supplying excellent talent in local strategic industries.
Lee Sang-geol, Chairman of the Gyeongju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, “We are grateful to the local business representatives who attended the Glocal Partnership Agreement ceremony." He also said, “We will do our best to support this agreement, which will help provide education that reflects the needs of companies, prevent youth population outflow, and revitalize the local economy.”
Lee Dong-hyeop, Chairman of Gyeongju City Council, said, “This Glocal Partnership Agreement was signed as a solution for local companies and local universities that are experiencing difficulties due to the decline in the youth population. Gyeongju City Council will also focus all its capabilities to provide support.”
Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-yeong said, “The signing of the Glocal Partnership Agreement between universities, companies, and local governments creates conditions for local talent to attend local universities, complete a curriculum that reflects the needs of local companies, and then get jobs at local companies and settle down in the region.” “We will provide all the support from Gyeongju City to make this happen,” he said.
Ryu Wanha, President of Dongguk University WISE, said in his welcoming speech, “Through the signing of this Glocal Partnership Agreement between local government, industry, academia, and research institutes, our university will foster excellent talents needed in the local community through innovative and creative education, and help those talents find employment in local companies. All members of the university will do their best to create a virtuous cycle in which students can thrive.”
