Orientation held for foreign students at Dongguk University WISE Campus
Dongguk University WISE Campus held an orientation for international students enrolled this semester at the main auditorium of the Centennial Memorial Hall on Monday, September 2nd.
This event, jointly held by the Office of International Affairs, related departments, and the Foreign Student Association, aims to help international students adapt early and improve their satisfaction with university life through detailed introductions to Korea, Gyeongju, and our university and academic guidance.
In particular, we established the [Dongguk Family Mentoring Program], an all-around support system for international students, and divided international students into 11 groups (Wisdom, Mercy, Jeongjin, Munsu, Bohyeon, Maitreya, Prajna, Geumgang, Almsgiving, Zen, and Yeonhwa) to provide mentors. Detailed information on school life, school and career paths, local community, and Korean (Buddhist) culture is provided to international students 24 hours a day.
Dongguk University WISE Campus International Exchange Director Lee Yu-kyung said, “This year, our university, as a university certified for educational internationalization capabilities, introduced various global higher education innovation models on a pilot basis based on a specialized strategy to attract international students, and the university’s capabilities were combined to enroll over 250 international students. He said, “We plan to create mutual development value with Korean students by activating creative glocal exchange programs, and through this, our university will lead the sustainable development of regional universities and cultivate key human resources for permanent coexistence with the region.” “We will develop it into a specialized glocal innovation model,” he said.
