In its 40-year history, our department has operated a curriculum that not only inherits the tradition of Korean language literature, but also develops thinking skills through creative Korean life and grows into a Korean literature expert with the right personality. In particular, it has established a foundation for researching Korean modern literature and creative activities in the field of literary creation by inheriting the historical tradition of Dongguk Literature, and laid the foundation for studying Korean classical literature in Gyeongju, the 1,000th year of Silla. With the change in the social structure of the 21st century, changes in cultural production and acceptance conditions, and the development of media, the department was renamed "Web Literature Department" for the first time in the country in 2022 and an educational program was prepared to foster web literature creators. In addition, a curriculum is operated to cultivate experts who can contribute to the globalization of Korean language and Korean culture in line with the trend of the New Hallyu era. To this end, faculty with professional educational competencies in the relevant major field and instructors who can directly utilize field-level experience in the educational field were established. In the future, our department will operate practical education programs and expand infrastructure to foster creative talents who can meet the needs of the 21st century and society while inheriting and developing the traditions of the Korean language and literature department.
The Korean Language and Literature Department aims to develop new research methods and theories while deepening systematic understanding and research on national language and literary heritage and strengthening interdisciplinary exchanges with neighboring academic fields.
